Thomas Tuchel admits Chelsea’s ‘privileged’ players are protected whereas ‘hundreds’ of other club staff are under threat.

The Blues are reeling after sanctions against Russian owner Roman Abramovich for his links to Vladimir Putin.

And Tuchel revealed his fears – despite claiming Kai Havertz’s superb late winner against Newcastle yesterday ‘changed ‘everything’.

Chelsea shrugged off off-field problems in their first home match since Abramovich had his assets frozen.

And they remain eight points clear in third place, with in-form Havertz the controversial hero after earlier escaping unpunished for an ‘elbow’ on Dan Burn.

Tuchel said: “This result has a huge impact on us, to give this pleasure to our fans means a lot. It changes everything.

“We are aware how privileged we are. Hundreds of people in this club are not so privileged, maybe face a more existential threat and are more worried about their future than us.

“This gives us a responsibility to fight for them.”

Meanwhile, British property developer Nick Candy says he’ll give a boardroom seat to a fan if he succeeds in buying Chelsea.

Candy also insisted he is willing to help fund the Blues after the Prem banned Abramovich from being a club director.

The sanctions against Abramovich put his plans to sell Chelsea on hold and mean his £3bn asking price could tumble.

Transfer wise, Manchester United and Newcastle could fight it out for Blues’ centre-back Antonio Rudiger and Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips in the summer.
