Three people have been injured after an incident involving a festival ride in Cumbria.

Emergency services were called to Cavendish Park in Barrow-in-Furness at 8.30pm on Saturday, Cumbria Constabulary said.

A woman is in a critical condition in hospital, while another woman and a man have serious injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

Two of them had been on the ride.

There were no details as to exactly what happened but the incident has been referred to the Health and Safety Executive.

The festival – Fudstock – was raising money for St Mary’s Hospice.

The charity wrote on its Facebook page: “Although we are not directly involved in the organisation or planning of the event, we did have some fundraising staff and volunteers present to represent us.

“We have already been in touch with them, and the event’s organisers, to offer any immediate support they may need. We will be available to them to help in any way we can.”

Chief executive Val Stangoe said: “The team who organise Fudstock have supported the hospice over a number of years, we will do whatever we can to support them at this difficult time.”
