Sam Allardyce had been due to co-host a talkSPORT show today but has pulled out amid speculation he is set to become West Brom boss.

Big Sam was due to appear alongside Adrian Durham on Drivetime from 4pm today, while he had also agreed to be part of our commentary team for Saturday’s Everton vs Arsenal clash.

But Allardyce will now not appear on the station this week as he prepares for a potential return to management.

West Brom are expected to sack Slaven Bilic today, despite drawing at Manchester City on Tuesday night, after 18 months in charge.

Allardyce is the leading contender to replace him at the Hawthorns, with the Baggies’ Chinese owners turning to the 66-year-old ‘survival specialist’ to try and lead them to safety.

A veteran of management, Allardyce has bossed seven Premier League clubs and has never tasted relegation.

He has been out of the game since leaving Everton in May 2018, after just six months in the job.

Allardyce has since been a regular on talkSPORT and has been in no rush to return to the dugout.

But the prospect of taking charge of his eighth top-flight club in West Brom is set to be too tempting to turn down.

Despite their impressive draw with Man City, West Brom remain two points adrift of safety and have won just one of their opening 13 games since sealing promotion.

Speaking on Tuesday night, Bilic insisted he was not worried about the speculation over his position.

“I’m very calm. I love my job. I’m here and calm,” he said.

“To be fair, I’m not bothered. I’m doing my job. I’m enjoying it. I’m working hard for myself, for my staff, for the players, for the club, that’s all.

“Everything else is out of my control. But to be fair, I’m just doing my best. I don’t think about other things.

“I’m not really that bothered what’s happening behind the scenes and all that, I don’t care.”

But the Croatian, who signed a two-year deal last summer and led the club to promotion in his first season, is set to be axed today.
