JAMIE CARRAGHER was quick to mock Cristiano Ronaldo after the striker drew another another blank for Manchester United.
The 37-year-old came off the bench in the club’s 3-1 victory over Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday where he once again failed to get on the score sheet.
Ronaldo, who has started just once in United’s opening six Premier League matches, is yet to open his account for the new season.
And it was satisfying for Liverpool legend Carragher to see as he took to social media to cheekily hit out at the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
The Sky Sports pundit tweeted: “‘What will happen to Man Utd without Ronaldo’s goals?'”
There is recent needle between the pair after Ronaldo snubbed Carragher of a handshake two weeks ago.
Carragher was on punditry duties along with Gary Neville and Roy Keane for United’s 2-0 win against Liverpool.
And during the warm-up, Ronaldo embraced his former team-mates, before blanking the Reds icon.
The 2005 Champions League winner has been a vocal critic of Ronaldo since he returned to the Theatre of Dreams, where he urged Erik ten Hag to axe him from his starting XI.
Following the incident, Carragher immediately went online to hit back at the Portugal international as he insisted Ten Hag agrees with him that he shouldn’t be playing.
Former United defender Rio Ferdinand believes that Ronaldo intentionally ignored Carragher as he wanted to humiliate him.
Speaking on his FIVE YouTube channel, he remarked: “Knowing Cristiano Ronaldo, Jamie Carragher’s been very vocal about Cristiano Ronaldo being the problem and stuff like that.
“Trust me, Cristiano would’ve seen those comments and would’ve been thinking walking over there I’ll just let this guy know with a little… he needs to kind of calm him down, humiliate him and show him up, whatever way you want to dress it up live on TV.
“Cristiano is very calculated, he’s very aware of what’s going on, he’s not somebody who sits at home and switches off.”
Before adding: “For Jamie Carragher to continually call him out, he’s got a right to his own opinion Jamie, but Cristiano will take that personally.
“He’s an emotional guy and he’ll show that his actions were no surprise to me. I find it funny, I find it hilarious to be honest.”
