Cristiano Ronaldo is unlikely to join Lionel Messi at Paris Saint-Germain ‘because the relationship between the two isn’t great’, and Erling Haaland is a more likely target for the French giants.
That’s according to transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio, who believes Neymar would also struggle to share a dressing room with the Portugal captain.
The 37-year-old is currently in his second spell at Manchester United and has 15 goals in all competitions this season for a struggling side.
As such, Ronaldo has been linked with a move to the French capital, with the PSG board understood to be huge fans of the veteran forward.
Yet Di Marzio believes two of the best players of all time would struggle to play alongside one another and therefore a transfer is unlikely.
“I don’t think Messi wants to play with Ronaldo, and Ronaldo wants to play with Messi,” he told Wettfreunde.
“I don’t think PSG want the couple to play together, because the relationship between the two isn’t great. I don’t think the two want to play together and the club wants to have them together.
“I really don’t think it can happen. Surprises in football transfers are everywhere, but I don’t think that [it will happen].
“Commercially, yes of course. If you have Cristiano Ronaldo in your team, it’s like a blank cheque, it’s commercially perfect.
“Having Messi and Neymar together and another striker, but young and not like Cristiano Ronaldo, that can create a problem in the dressing room,” he added.
“Because Messi and Ronaldo are ‘prima donnas’. They want to be the first, and it’s not possible to have two first together.
“And also Neymar, but he has a good relationship with Messi. Bringing in Ronaldo with the other two, I don’t think PSG wants to create that sort of problem in the dressing room.
“Even in the field it would be difficult. To have three players like them would be difficult for the coach.”
It is widely expected Kylian Mbappe will leave the Parc des Princes this summer on a free transfer, with Real Madrid the most likely destination.
The France international scored a stunning injury-time winner in their Champions League clash with Los Blancos, a move which is unlikely to appease his potential new employers.
Yet it could mean Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland moves to France to replace the World Cup winner, effectively ending Ronaldo’s chances of leaving United.
Di Marzio concluded: “I think Mbappe will go to Real Madrid, and PSG will try for Haaland or some other young talented player like him to have the right replacement for Mbappe.”
