Pep Guardiola’s side smashed the Portuguese outfit 5-0 away during the first leg last month as they seek a first European triumph at the Etihad.

Bernardo Silva scored twice along with goals from Raheem Sterling, Riyad Mahrez and Phil Foden to effectively kill the tie before the return fixture.

Sporting have a mountain to climb as no team has ever come back from a five-goal first-leg deficit to advance in the Champions League.

This Champions League clash will take place on Wednesday, March 9.

The last-16 second leg at the Etihad will kick-off at 8pm.

Kyle Walker is still serving the second of his three-game European ban and Kevin de Bruyne is one booking away from suspension.
