Ronny Rosenthal has a new contender for the worst miss of all time, and it comes from a former Championship regular.

Florian Jozefzoon, formerly of Brentford, Derby and Rotherham had the simplest of tasks in an Eredivisie match for RKC Waalwijk, and even he admitted it was easier to score.

With the score 0-0 against Groningen and Waalwijk hunting for European football, Mats Seuntjens spotted Jozefzoon for the simplest of tap-ins to cap off a brilliantly simple flowing move.

Just needing to put the ball over the line, Jozefzoon got his left foot on it but it somehow went backwards through his legs.

The no.10 collapsed on the floor in shock, and everyone in the stadium had their hands on their heads, even his manager and teammates.

“I received it immediately on my foot,” he told ESPN post-match. “Unfortunately I missed. I don’t know what happened to me.

“It was harder to miss the ball than to shoot it in, it can happen to anyone at some point.

“You shouldn’t dwell on it for too long. Luckily we won, that’s the most important thing.”

Waalwijk went on to take a 2-1 victory, sparing Jozefzoon’s blushes.
