Who’d have thought Antonio Rudiger is the quickest player in the Premier League this season?
The Chelsea centre-back has beaten the likes of Mohamed Salah and Adama Traore to clock the fastest speed of any player in the top flight this season.
Whilst his future is far from certain, Rudiger’s performances have been exemplary.
He’s started 26 of 28 Premier League games, keeping 12 clean sheets and scoring twice as well as producing two assists.
No one doubts his defensive qualities, but he’s a player not necessarily known for his pace.
But according to OptaJoe, Rudiger can certainly shift having clocked the highest speed of the season during a clash against Brighton.
The German defender knocked up a speed of 36.7km/h, a fraction quicker than Salah and Traore, who have been measured going at 36.6km/h.
And behind them is another Reds player in Ibrahima Konate who recorded a speed of 36.2 km/h.
Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins and Leicester forward Patson Daka then make up the remainder of the list with a speed of 36.1 km/h.
