Brighton v Liverpool commentary and teams: Reds look to put pressure on Man City

Liverpool will look to put the pressure on Premier League title rivals Manchester City when they make the trip to Brighton in Saturday’s early kick-off.

Liverpool remain six points behind league leaders City but do have a game in hand and a trip to the Etihad to come.

The Reds will move to within three points of the top if they beat Brighton and City don’t play until their Monday night trip to Crystal Palace.

Brighton claimed an impressive draw at Anfield in October, coming from two down to secure a point.

But the Seagulls go into this match in poor form having lost their last four top-flight games on the bounce.

Brighton v Liverpool: Team news

Brighton duo Enock Mwepu and Adam Lallana are available for the visit of Liverpool.

Mwepu has been sidelined since early January with injury and illness and boss Graham Potter is keen to take things steadily, while Lallana returned to training last week.

Adam Webster is still out while Yves Bissouma has been managing a slight knee problem but should be available.

Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino is set to return to the squad having missed the last six matches with a groin problem.

Ibrahima Konate missed the midweek Champions League defeat by Inter Milan with a knock and will be assessed.

There are a few other niggles but manager Jurgen Klopp was expecting to have a virtually fully-fit squad.

Brighton v Liverpool: What has been said?

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp: “So far the boys did incredibly well and why shouldn’t I think we can’t go on [and win the title]?

“It’s hard work but the boys are ready. We will try everything, but we cannot call it a title race because we are still behind.

“We try to win football games, but let’s see.

“Brighton are not the best in the world but they are incredibly good.

“Potter knows his football and knows he has a big chance to make us struggle.”
